Online rather than at a counter
A photocopy shop is faster when you are standing in front of it holding paper. Printster is better when the document is already digital, when the copy count is high enough that waiting at a counter is tedious, or when the job needs binding. Copying from paper
If your original is on paper, scan or photograph it before uploading. Almost any phone scanner app produces a usable PDF — use document mode rather than a plain camera shot so the page is flattened and cropped. Scan at 300 DPI where the original has small print or fine detail.
Binding your copies
This is where an online order beats a counter. Corner staple is Rs 2, staple Rs 15, spiral Rs 40, wiro Rs 45, soft cover perfect binding Rs 110 and hard binding Rs 250. Choose the binding at the same time as the copies and the job comes back finished rather than as a loose stack.
Colour or black and white
Black and white is right for text and for anything that was black and white to begin with, and it is five times cheaper per page. Choose colour only where the colour carries information — charts, maps, marked-up diagrams. A mixed document is priced as colour throughout, so split it into two jobs if only a few pages need colour.
