Length is where the sheet stops being invisible. A 442-page block is heavy in the hand, and heavier stock makes it thicker still, which the spine then has to hold square. At 57 pages there is barely a spine to build, and the cover does more for the object than the text paper does. Soft cover binding is ₹110 a copy and hard binding ₹250, per copy at 1 to 50 copies; both add 1 to 2 working days on top of the 3 to 5 of production.

Matte or glossy, and the 14 poster items Kullu has ordered

Poster printing is 14 of Kullu's 647 printed items, 2.2% against 1.9% across India, about 1.1 times the national share, and we hold no page average for that row. Posters are where coated stock earns its price, 130 GSM to 300 GSM, and where the larger sizes come in: A3, 12 x 18 inch, 13 x 19 inch, rather than the A4 the per-page rates assume. Matte and glossy name the coating, not the weight.

The two differ in what they do with light. Matte holds no highlight, so a Kullu poster stays legible read at an angle, under a tube light or behind glass, and it shows fingermarks less. Glossy throws light back, pushing photographic colour deeper and holding dark detail, at the cost of a bright patch from one position. A4 in colour is ₹3.36 a page double-sided on the standard tier.
