Paperback or hardbound
Soft cover perfect binding at Rs 110 a copy is the paperback: a printed spine, a squared edge, the thing a bookshop sells. Hard binding at Rs 250 gives a rigid board cover for library copies, gifts and anything meant to last, and Rs 275 adds golden print on the front. Spiral at Rs 40 and wiro at Rs 45 are for workbooks and manuals that need to lie flat rather than look like books. Choosing the trim size
A5 is the natural novel and handbook size and costs Rs 0.38 a page against A4 at Rs 0.60. A4 suits technical books, manuals, workbooks and anything with diagrams, tables or code. Decide before you typeset, because reflowing a finished book into a different trim size moves every page break in it. 3 different printing products have been ordered to B.S.City so far, which is why the rate card below covers more than the one job you came for.
Spine width and the cover
Spine width follows page count and paper GSM, and the spine calculator on printster.in gives the exact measurement. Design the cover to that figure — a spine set 3 mm too narrow puts the title round the corner onto the front board. Supply the cover as its own file rather than as page one of the text PDF. Colour interiors
Colour is Rs 3.36 per A4 page double-sided against Rs 0.60 black and white, and a mixed file is priced as colour throughout. For a book with a colour plate section, supply the black-and-white body and the colour plates as separate files and have them bound as one volume — on a 300-page book that is the difference between hundreds and thousands of rupees. - One. There is no minimum run and no setup fee, because this is digital rather than offset printing. Per-copy cost falls at 100 copies or more, where A5 printing drops from Rs 0.38 to Rs 0.34 a page.
- How much does it cost to print 100 paperback books?
- For a 200-page A5 book: about Rs 68 of printing per copy at the Rs 0.34 A5 rate that applies at 100 copies or more, plus Rs 110 for perfect binding — roughly Rs 17,800 for the run before GST and delivery. The calculator prices your actual file.
- How long does delivery to B.S.City take?
